Knoppix 3.4 and Videolan

I have installed a Knoppix 3.4 in some machines with some apps working (so i can´t change the O.S.)

When i try to install Videolan (apt-get) i only can install Videolan 0.3.1 version.

I would like to install the newer version on this distro, is it possible?

If not, how could i recompile it with that Knoppix version?

I have seen that there are some videolan users with Knoppix :)

What could i do?

Regards

you need to get debian sid's version ... i don't know what version Knoppix is based on.

from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-debian.html :

Debian unstable (sid)
VLC's latest packaged version is always in the official Debian unstable branch. However you should still use our apt-get line if you need libdvdcss:

deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main

For a normal install, do:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install vlc libdvdcss2
