Is it possible in VLC to resume video from the point it was stopped the previous time?

If No, why not add such a feature? :)

My OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
VLC Media Player 2.0.8 Twoflower

That's already supported in VLC in Ubuntu 14.10...
