hi,
I don't understand the instructions on the dl page for mandrake linux. where do I get the packages from and what do I use URPMI for and how do I use it... how do I install it???

I know I probably sound like a complete idiot, but I just installed this OS and trying to get used to it... please bare with me ;_;
do I dl the packages somewhere? I'm so confused

ok, so I urpmi added some sources, like the contrib and some plf but I get an error message when I type in what it says to type in:

[root@loc...]# urpmi libdvdcss2 libdvdplay0 wxvlc vlc-plugin-a52 vlc-plugin-ogg vlc-plugin-mad

vlc-plugin-mad-0.8.2-7.1.102plf.i586 (wegen fehlendem vlc-plugin-a52-0.8.2-7.1.102plf.i586)
vlc-plugin-ogg-0.8.2-7.1.102plf.i586 (wegen fehlendem vlc-plugin-a52-0.8.2-7.1.102plf.i586)

which translates to
Some of the files can not be installed:
because of missing vlc-plugin-a52-0.8.2-7.1.102plf..i586
because of unfulfilled dependency of liba52.so.0
(and then missing plugin again)

do I need anything downloaded other than what I typed in? Please help

I am not a total linux noob (still class myself as a noob though) , and get by without probs. I had never used urpmi before. Their needs to be some information, even a paragraph on how to dl and install l and what urpmi is and will be used for on that page. As far as I can tell I have successfully set up the sources and have tested urpmi to grab other packages with success but I have no joy for Videolan. I may well be doing somthing wrong, but how would I know as their is no info!!

When I enter as root
urpmi libdvdcss2 libdvdplay0 wxvlc vlc-plugin-a52 vlc-plugin-ogg vlc-plugin-mad
I am returned with
no package named libdvdcss2

gonna just install from source now
