HELP!Record and stream video with Logitech c920, ubuntu v4l2

Postby gre2gor » 09 Nov 2014 20:05

Hi,

I manage to record video to harddisk on Intel Atom notebook and Ubuntu 64 bit. This camera hw encodes video in h.264 codec. So when recording it takes only 4-5% of processor power. Can anyone help me getting this done?

I would like to stream full hd to youtube. I am a totally newbee. I need this to record and stream our ice hockey games.

With very limited founds I can not plan any new investments. But if Raspberry or Beaglebone comps are capable of doing this I think my Intel Atom 550 notebook should be able to do that.

I have been trying myself for a week now, but somehow I do not know which gstreamer cvlv or which string to use.

Thank you for all the help provided!

Grega

I think RTMP server does not work yet on VLC.

Youtube input requires an RTMP source. But according to a post from Jean Batiste

You cannot yet, until we have an RTMP output.
although I found a tutorial which might help you somehow:
