Problem building, libavcodec version too low

Postby funkytwig » 03 Sep 2014 16:58

Hi, I am trying to build vlc on Mint 16. I am getting the following error.

configure: WARNING: No package 'gstreamer-app-1.0' found. GStreamer modules will not be built.
checking for AVCODEC... no
configure: error: Requested 'libavcodec >= 54.25.0' but version of libavcodec is 53.35.0
Requested 'libavutil >= 52.0.0' but version of libavutil is 51.22.2. Pass --disable-avcodec to ignore this error.

Do I need to go to mint 17? or is there another workround?

I got the souce with

git clone git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git

Regards,
Ben
