Hi, I've been playing .w64 files for years with linux vlc, connected to jackd,
using the qjackctl gui. Recently, an update from

vlc-2.0.7-1pclos2013.i586.rpm, to

vlc-2.1.2-3pclos2013.i586.rpm

ended this ability,
the .w64 files won't play, .wav and mp3 are fine. Also, the vlc connection won't appear
in the qjackctl window, when the play button is pressed, as it does when playing .wav, .mp3 files.

All these .w64, .wav, and .mp3 files are generated on the same machine,
and I tested again on an older live-cd version, to cover more bases,
and 2.0.8 worked fine, but then failed when the live session was updated to 2.12.

The same .w64 files still load and play in linux audacity.

I also installed the current windows version in the linux setup, using wine,
and the same .w64 files (and misc videos, mp3s etc played fine.
I then uninstalled every package of misc codecs,
and audacity and windows vlc still played the .w64s, only the recent linux version
seems to embrace this allergy. Any clues for a solution?
Cheers

.w64 is related to your libavformat version, not VLC.
