Hi,
I am planning to use VLC on my "embedded" system (Not really an embedded system in the real sense....). It has a 16 MB flash.

I have 2 - 3 MB and am looking at VLC.


Can anyone tell me. what could be the minimal installation of VLC.
How much space it will take. I just need a basic media player. No Frills. Just a simple
media player.


I am using Linux 2.6.13 - rc4.


My Processor is ARM.

Hello,

./configure --help will show you many options that you can disable. However, having VLC fit in 2 or 3 MB will be hard, especially if you want a graphical interface.

Having VLC in about 1M is ok if you just want a streamer, but a player is always bigger.

You'll have to disable stream output, skins interface, most access plugins (I guess your embedded system don't support DVDs, right), most control interfaces, ...
