SAP announcements with multiple NICs

I'm currently unable to receive SAP announcements in VLC whilst having more than one network adapter enabled. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
I'm running 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 12.04LS with two Intel network cards and want to receive SAP announcements from a couple of servers connected to each of the different networks. Running wireshark I can see the various SAP announcements arriving on 224.2.127.243:9875 but VLC shows nothing in its Network Streams list. If I disable one of the adapters and then restart VLC, I can see the SAP for the streams available on that network connection. I'm only working with IP4.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how I am able to receive SAP notifications from both adapters ?

I would guess you need to setup your IP routing table correctly so the kernel knows where to receive multicast from.
