Debian Multimedia Repository - is it still broken? And.....

Greetings:
The question that I have is actually two fold.
As the subject of my post asks, (responding to the Sticky at the top of this Forum) is this repository still a problem? And is it same as the /deb-multimedia repository?

The reason that I ask is because I recently updated my distribution (Snow Linux) to the latest version and - at the request of the distributions maintainer - I removed the Debian Multimedia repository and replaced it with deb-multimedia (http://www.deb-multimedia.org/).

Did I actually remove the Debian Multimedia repository or just rename it?

The issue that I am having is with no video in VLC. I have sound but the video is blank. It seems like the issue is only with files that are H.264 compressed.
I have only noticed the problem with the H.264 encoded files. Everything else seems to work as expected.

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Respectfully.

P.S. - I apologize for this second post. It was in no way intentional to post twice on the same subject. I originally posted to the Topic - Important notice for Debian/Ubuntu users

I went back after making that post and couldn't locate it. I even tried searching for it using "View your posts" and still couldn't find any sign of the post being added to the forum.
So I posted again to this Topic.

Forum Moderator(s) please feel free to remove the original post or merge it with this one. Or, whatever you feel is appropriate.

Again, I apologize. It was an oversight on my part.

Here you go, Debian Multimedia breaks VLC on purpose :)

Thank you for the response. I can't understand why DM would do this intentionally but I don't know the whole story.

I am in touch with the maintainers of DM now and I hope to get an answer to this unfortunate problem.

I am extremely fond of VLC and I will not walk away from it without knowing exactly why it doesn't play nice with Debian Multimedia.

If there is an intentional sabotage in play here, I will get an answer to it that I am satisfied with or I'll become a major pain in the "back-of-the-lap".

Thank you again Jean-Baptiste Kempf.
Though a bit cryptic, I appreciate your candid response.

Respectfully,

No. Debian Multimedia isn't playing nice with VLC, not the opposite.
They are breaking our decoding modules.

On purpose or by malice? I don't know.

I apologize. I didn't mean for it to sound like VLC was the problem. However, after looking back at my post it leaves no other conclusion.
I should have worded it better.
I am confident that VLC is not the problem here and I would love to hear from the Debian-Multimedia developers why they cannot or will not get their code to work correctly with a product as great and popular as the VLC media player.

I am subscribed to the Debian-Multimedia email list and hope to get some answers to that question.

I will post to this topic the dialogue that I have with them if it will help?

Once again, thank you Jean-Baptiste Kempf for your input.

Respectfully,
