options syntax - basic question

Hello,
Bit of an ofdd question, but also hopefully quite a basic one:
I can pass in option to VLC as follows:
MRL:port<space>:someoption=blah
Is there any character other than space that can be used to separate the port from the options? Currently the space causes our parser a problem -though it shouldn't be too hard to change, if there was a workaround I'd take it!
