hi i followed all the steps and successfully installed VLC on my AA1 Linpus Lite, but the problem when i played videos (e.g. avi files and such) it does not show me the screen, it only play the sounds/music/effects of that movie. i tried to click on the video menu on top and found out that it was disabled so i selected track 1 and played the video again, but still the same thing. its kinda odd though it already played the movie, the sound but without the video screen itself! PLEASE HELP.

PS i tried reinstalling VLC via the acer.com/aspireone/updates....same problem happens no video screen but only sound. and it seems that everytime i played videos, the video menu seems to be defaulted as disabled. kinda weird though

I have exactly the same problem as jeejee23. I have installed VLC player and have the shortcut (orange cone) in the Fun menu of my Acer Aspire One. I double click the icon and the VLC media player interface appears, but no video screen. I select an avi. file to play but all I get is the audio. Can anyone help please.

It is irritating that workable and usable programs for us netbook user simply disapear. But, there is a solution. It is found at macles bloggspot dot com. HOWEVER, there are at least 140 comments you might want to read before trying this solution. The most important comment tell you to update your "repositories". Thus, in the terminal, before you do anything else, run

sudo yum install fedora-release

Another alternative is to visit ACER's support page

http://www.acer.com/aspireone/aspireone ... t.html#002

I do suspect that you need to upgrade the repositories before trying that VLC installation. I didn't get any picture only sound when I tried it the last time.

Hi I recently got my Aspire One and I love it, but I need it to play Xvids and Divxs to complete it. I have tried, over the last two days, to find a solution, to no avail. I have D/L'd and installed VideoLan but like others I can only play sound. Do I need VLC codecs, if so where Do I get them and how do I install them. I want to stay with Linpus but if I Can't solve this issue I may have to dump it in Favour of Windows XP.
