Is there a way to use Linux vlc 0.8.6 with a firewire cable box leveraging on raw1394 and libiec61883?

How would I access this access module?

I'm probably posting in the wrong thread, since I've got VLC for Mac OS X with a Motorola DC6412 that I can get the TS from via FireWire.
I'd like to access the stream directly in VLC (instead of opening a saved .ts file from AVCVideoCapture), transcode it, and stream it so I can watch my TV away from home. The latter two I've already been able to do, but I have to use saved transport stream files. I'd like to do it live so I can access my TV at any time from anywhere.

Is it possible on the Mac? Are these libs and modules available only on Linux? Should I post over on the Mac OS X forum?
