Problem Configuration VLC on Telnet with VOD

Postby Porci82 » 11 Jan 2007 14:52

hello...

i've a problem to make the configuration of my VLC installed on a Linux Suse 10.1.

i put this command inside the console :
vlc --ttl 2 -vvv --color --extraintf telnet --telnet-password videolan --rtsp-host 10.224.8.149:5554
that work, the console don't show me any errors.

after, when i want to configure the VOD, i have an oder computer, wich is a Windows XP, and i make a connection with HyperTerminal. When te HyperTerminal ask me the password, i put and it telle me :
Welcome, Master

After, when i want to put a VOD object inside, the don't want to make nothing...

thats my problem:
> new test vod enabled
new : could not create media

> new test vod enabled
new : could not create media

> New test vod enabled
New : Unknown command

on the Linux console, it show me that :

- Main private error : cannot bind socket (Ne peut pas attribuer l'adresse demandée)
- Main private error : cannot create socket(s) for HTTP host
- vod_rtsp private error : connot create RTSP server (10.224.8.149:5554)
- main vlm error : cannot find vod server
- main private debug : looking for vod server module : 1 candidate
- vod rtsp private debug : allowing up to 0 connections

thanks for all, it's for a project at school!

P.S. the firewall on Linux is disabled

run vlc as root, because your user doesn't have permissions to bind to network port.

your port 5554 might be used by another instance of vlc or another program.

try another port.

Meanwhile the ip "10.224.8.149" must be the IP of your server ...... not the client ip.

if you put the ip 0.0.0.0 the server will answer in all his interfaces.

for running vlc like this : be root, not other accounts

There is no "HTTP VOD" in VLC.
