VLC on Linux, question!

Hi everyone! I have one question!

If i download VLC for Linux Suse from mainpage, is it possible to run under Console Linux (also without GUI)? Do i need to compile it?

Yes by using vlc -I rc or -I http or -I dummy.
You should not need to recompile it.
