VLC segfaults on my Ubuntu

Hey!

My VLC has started to segfault every time i try to start it. Im running Ubuntu of latest version and i have all updates installed. Ive tried to use both the ofifcial packages and the nighlies for dapper, but both versions segfaults on startup. Here is the output from -vvv:

The last line was translated from swedish.

How can i fix this, it has worked before, but one day, it just was this way?

I'm coming across a similar problem, mainly whenever I try to play Matroska files in Dapper Drake.

I've already hand-compiled VLC to assure that -enable-mkv was set, and it still segfaults. Here's a sample of what is happening when I try to play a multiaudio video file with optional subtitles. I typically change it from it's default language and usually turn on subtitles (English/Jap audio, Jap on with English subtitles)

Anyone know how to fix this? I loved VLC in windows, and I'd like to stick with it now.

EDIT: With a little more experimentation, I've realized that in any MKV file I use it only chokes when I enable subtitles.

EDIT2: Another wierd bit of information just from playing around with it a while, it only crashes if both subtitles are on and I try to resize the video at all.

What a specific, yet annoying, problem.
