No center channel for 5.1 with ALSA

Postby kommissar » 14 Aug 2005 06:11

I have 5.1 surround sound working in totem-xine and "aplay -Dplug:surround51 -c6 fearnot.wav" produces sound on all channels. I also tested all my speakers individually with aplay and they are all functional.

Unfortunately I'm using the VLC media player 0.8.1 and the 5.1 surround option in "audio devices" does not work. The center channel does not play anything and this error is dumped to the console:

Code: Select all

[00000275] alsa audio output error: unable to set stream sample size and word order (Invalid argument) No accelerated IMDCT transform found
Stereo works fine, however. I don't know what's wrong, has anyone experienced this before?
