VLC muting audio with Focusrite Scarlett 4i4

Hello all.
I'm using the latest version of VLC 3.0.21 Vetinari installed on Linux Mint 21.3, Kernel Linux 5.15.0-122-generic. Everything was working fine until last week I stopped getting any audio through my USB Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. The card works fine with the laptop's speakers. The Scarlett works fine on my Windows partition.

When I deselect the soundcard and reselect it again on the VLC's options I get audio but it mutes again as soon as I click anywhere on the transport bar. I tried uninstalling VLC and reinstalling it but it makes no difference.

Can anybody help me here please? Thanks in advance for your time.
