Volume Decreasing Issues

Postby Agila » 25 Apr 2024 00:56

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
VLC 3.0.20

Hello,

For the past few days, I've noticed that when I open VLC by clicking on a song or video, the volume decreases drastically. Sometimes it drops to 40% or even to 0%. This issue doesn't only occur when initially launching VLC; it also happens when I click on a song or video that's already in the playlist. For example, I could have VLC open, listening to songs, and then decide to click on another song, only to have the volume decrease. Additionally, I've observed that when one song ends and the next one begins, the volume drops as well, although this doesn't happen every single time.
How can I fix this?

I had the same issue and it was very sporadic.

The way I 'fixed' it, was go to tools > preferences (simple settings)
Click on HotKeys at the top.

At the bottom of that screen is:

Mouse wheel vertical axis control
Mouse wheel horizontal axis control

Change both to ignore. Click Save and restart VLC.

You wont be able to turn up/down volume with the mouse wheel, but I have had no more volume problems.
