Install VLC with snap with --classic flag

Postby freak_playa » 03 Jan 2022 17:38

Hey guys,

is it possible to install VLC via snap with the --classic flag?? with the normal "strict" installation it is not possible to use the libraries that is provided from my host and I also can't access SMB shares that is mounted with nautilus.
I know there are some threads in this forum where people claimed the missing features which comes from the "strict" installation.

Is the ability for a --classic installation planned or have I to build always the new VLC versions on my own to get it correctly installed on my Ubuntu-System??

AFAIK, you can install literally any snap package with classic (non-)confinement. This is more a Snap question than a VLC question, either way.
