no sound with .m4a audio files over bluetooth

Postby xcheck » 17 Jan 2019 21:56

Hello,

my headset – JBL Inspire 500 – keeps quiet for .m4a iTunes audio files bought or ripped likewise (the latter in alac lossless format). I run VLC 3.0.6 on Raspbian Stretch x86. The log shows some warning: playback way too late https://pastebin.com/mCkHWkyg. There is no firmware update available. VLC does play .mp3 or .flac files. The headset works with iTunes on Windows. Occasional it worked in the past, around VLC 3.0.3, but I was never able to reproduce it.

There is a similar thread for Bose in the Apple https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=143535 section.

Anyone with an advice or tweak to fix it?

Thank you

It might help to mention that – JBL Inspire 500 – does work with «rhythmbox» or «smplayer mpv» which points to a VLC specific issue…

my headset – JBL Inspire 500 – works running VLC 3.0.8 on Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon same hardware. Don't know whether Raspbian Buster x86 also solves it.
