can't read dvd

Postby pmagnuso » 08 Jan 2006 06:04

running Fedora Core 3, vlc version 0.8.2, libdvdcss 1.2.9

Looks like the vlc can read the dvd at some level. This is on a dvd open with menus. There are messages about finding the VOB's. The message window lists 9 titiles and chapters for each title.

the message log from vlc -vvvv has error messages for each VOB.
Error cracking CSS key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB (0x00006682)
the next error message I see is
dvdnav demuxer warning: cannot get next block (Error reading NAV packet.)

When the dvd is opened in simple mode without menus, the CSS cracking error is also encountered. And the following error message is encountered:
dvdread demuxer error: read failed for block 0

Any hints?
Thanks,

The DJ

This happens when there are unwritten sectors on the DVD disc. dvd reading libraries cannot handle this case. Usually home made DVDs have this issue.

thanks for the reply.

There must be another problem, this is a production dvd. Any other work-arounds possible?

Thanks,
