Libdvdcss and network block device.

Postby 3djake » 25 Aug 2018 09:36

Hello

I am trying to share a DVD drive as a block device over a network and play a DVD on a remote machine. The issue is that libdvdcss cannot get the keys when I do this.

For this I am using nbd-server and nbd-client to share a block device (/dev/sr0) and mount it on a remote machine.

The only way I can get it to work is if I open the DVD on the server machine first in VLC player and close it, after I have done this the dvd will work on the client machine. Is there any way around this limitation?

Thanks.
Regards, Jake.

Found a program called lsdvd. I should be able to script something using this with the need to run a media player on the server machine.

You need to be able to run the MMC controls locally.
