streaming Segmentation Fault on Ubuntu breezy

Postby dw » 29 Dec 2005 08:15

I've recently installed vlc on my Ubuntu server and whenever I attempt to stream video I get a segmentation fault. Streaming the video locally works just fine.

Here's my version:

Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Description
+++-=====================================-=====================================-==========================================================================================
ii vlc 0.8.4-svn20050920-3+hal0ubuntu3 multimedia player for all audio and video formats

I didn't see anything critical being reported to the log. Here are the last few lines:

main debug: using interface module "logger"
main debug: interface initialized
main debug: thread 3019721648 (interface) created at priority 0 (src/interface/interface.c:211)
main debug: adding playlist item `/home/dw/gardening.mpg' ( /home/dw/gardening.mpg )

Does anyone have any suggestions? I used apt-get to install the software.

Thanks!
