I have Fedora 27 and VLC 3.0.0-rc5 Vetinari. With a DVD movie inserted in the internal laptop CD/DVD drive, the sound plays but there is no video. Other movie files like *.avi and *.mp4 play fine. Fedora is the Host OS.
I run Windows 7 as a guest OS in VirtualBox on the same laptop. VLC 2.2.8 Weatherwax runs in Windows 7 and DVDs play fine. Media Player Classic 1.7.13x64 also plays DVDs fine in the Windows 7 virtual machine.
I suspect the Fedora rpm has left something out. Of course, Fedora just says they don't support VLC and won't provide any help.
I have no idea how long this has been an issue because I just recently bought DVDs after many years.
Has anyone else had the same problem and can tell me how to remedy it? Thank you.
