vlc 0.8.4 on fedora core 4 matroska problem

Postby bipdan » 17 Dec 2005 12:59

I've been able to install vlc 0.8.4 (after resolving a bunch of dependencies) but when i run it i get this error message :

vlc: symbol lookup error: vlc: undefined symbol: _ZN11libmatroska14KaxSimpleBlock10ClassInfosE

vlc 0.8.2 used to work but i need the 0.8.4 to make freeplayer work OK

Thanks for all answer you might give.

I have libmatroska-0.7.7-1.1 and libebml-0.7.5-1.1

Is it necessary to update ?

how can i find the update for fedora fc4?

I try without success to update with yum on freshrpms.

Anyway thanks

I found the libs from
http://dl.matroska.org/downloads/

But i can't compile them.

I only tried to run a make from the make dir in the archive but it won't compile ...

Problem solved !!!

I've been able to install libebml 0.7.6 from src rpm for fc4. It still dit not work.

After that i finally found libmatroska a rpm for libmatroska-0.8.0-1 fc4 x86_64 at

http://mirror.web-ster.com/fedora/extra ... 1.fc4.html

I now hope freeplayer will work fine

Freeplayer works now. there are still some movies that won't play but the intreface with the freebox is fine and the sound is no more crappy.

Freeplayer fonctionne a présent, y'a toujours quelques films qui ne passe pas mais mais l'interface sur la freeboox est ok et le son ne déconne plus

Many thanks for the good version of libebml and libmatriska to use.
