VLC KDE lockscreen notification

Postby vojtechkral » 03 Jan 2018 15:55

Hi,
I use VLC to listen to music. Sometimes I pause a track, leave VLC open and lock the screen when I need to go fetch a cup of tea or something.
In that case VLC displays the current track icon and name on the lockscreen. I'd like it not to do that (honestly I don't see how this is useful).
I wasn't able to find any reference to this neither in KDE settings nor in VLC settings nor somewhere else online.
I tried disabling VLC tray icon and track change popup in the settings but this doesn't affect the locksreen display.

Anyone can help?
Thanks!

Hello,

vlc allows to be remotely controlled using the D-Bus MPRIS protocol. This can be disabled starting vlc with "--no-dbus"

Thanks for the info about MPRIS. Sadly, my VLC seems to have no D-Bus related command line options.

At any rate, that is a feature of KDE, not VLC. Disable the KDE multimedia controller or whatever its name is, in the KDE desktop settings.
