possible to reinstall VLC after updating OpenGL|ES 2.x?

Postby Chrisi22 » 09 Oct 2017 07:16

Mint 18.1 wants to upgrade Mesa - OpenGL, but says VLC will be uninstalled.
Don't quite understand - Synaptic shows installed VLC is 2.2.2+git20170721+r59033+56~ubuntu16.04.1, but VLC Help>about shows 2.2.7.

Apparently installing OpenGL 2 doesn't like VLC or vice versa?
Anyway, most discussions I've seen are above my pay grade.
AFAIK, not had any problems w/ current installed Mesa, but there are a ton of bug fixes between current Mesa 12.0.6 and 17.0.7

Any suggestions?

VLC does not care about the Mesa version. There is probably an indirect dependency problem.
