No window appears. "core libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed"

Postby sentarn99 » 01 Aug 2017 01:04

Hi,

I'm using LInux Mint 18.2 and recently VLC doesn't open when I run it.

When I type vlc at the command line I get:

core interface error: no suitable interface module
core libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed

Any ideas how I might fix this? I've tried removing and reinstalling. This happens using vlc 2.2.2 from the default repo and also 2.2.7 from the stable daily ppa.

It means either that there is no X server, or that the VLC installation is incomplete.
