VLC playing gstreamer flow

Postby yileku » 18 Jul 2017 00:44

I have setup gstreamer to send a udp flow. I can see the packets, but when I open the stream with VLC, nothing shows. Are there certain options (tsmux, etc.) that must be used with gstreamer for vlc to play its output?
Thx

Well, you need the IP address, the port number, the protocol, and if applicable, the SDP.

I am encoding using H.264 and 265. I am not using transport stream. I send to a multicast address and IP port. I run VLC and put 'udp://@225.1.1.1:6000' in as the network URL. Still no video is displayed. Does VLC require a certain encapsulation type to play a stream?
Thx

You need the SDP then.
