Crash (segfault) when singlestepping

Postby vlc-user » 31 Mar 2017 02:11

Hi,

After having found a good scene in a movie (such as an explosion in an action movie), I often rewind a few seconds and then watch it in singlestep (E key) or do things like play for 1/2 second, pause, rewind again, singlestep, play, ... This way, I often encounter freezes or even crashes of VLC. Currently, I'm using VLC on ArchLinux, but I already encountered these freezes / crashes a while ago when I used it on Ubuntu.

The crashes occured with nearly any video format I've ever played (avi, flv, mkv, mpg, wmv). When just viewing without rewinding etc., all the videos play fine.

Today, I finally managed to reproduce such a crash while running vlc in -vvv mode from the terminal. I have saved the log and a gdb backtrace locally in a file. I just did not add it as code section here, because it's over 7000 lines. What's the best way provide it to you ?
Thanks and Regards,
Markus
