VLC plugin (no picutre)

Ok I've installed the vlc plugin for mozilla accourding to about:plugin the plugin is installed and inabled, but when ever I vist a page the plugin should handle all I see is a black box with the words (no picture) :( can someone please help.

If you launch mozilla from the command line and don't pipe stderr to /dev/null, you should get debug messages on the command line which should help you figure out what's going on. At least, this is what I'd expect; I've only used the VLC ActiveX control so far for web browsing and that's the way it works.
