configure vlc

I'm trying to record a video with vlc.
1) How can I configure vlc to set which microphone I want to use?
2) How do I configure vlc to set where it should save the file with the recording?

1) I've tried and tried and finally I was able to record the sound from the camera OR the video. But not both together. Either I set the sound recording or the video recording. How can I set both together?
2) I found how to set where to save the file.

2) Now the video are being saved where I want, but I could not find how to set the place where to save the snapshot.
