Sound sometimes stops after seeking with Pulse

Postby mahen » 04 Jun 2014 17:52

Hi everyone !

First thanks a lot to the VLC team !!! Been using it for a decade at least !

I upgraded from Kubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 and noticed this issue which didn't occur before :

- when seeking into a video file (happened with many of them ; I haven't figured out the common pattern yet), sound frequently stops (but the video goes on). After seeking again it comes back (or not, depending on the video).

- out of curiosity I switched from Pulseaudio to ALSA and the bug doesn't occur anymore EXCEPT I sometimes hear some strange noise for a fraction of a second after seeking then the sound comes back to normal. It doesn't happen in all cases but it could be related to the loss of sound when Pulse is enabled.

Do you guys have any idea what may be wrong ? I'm using an onboard sound device on a 5 years old or so ASUS laptop. I can make tests using an USB sound card for instance.

My best guess is PulseAudio bug.
