vlc cannot play internet video stream

Postby th0rgal » 11 Oct 2005 21:29

Hello,

I am trying to play an internet video stream but vlc complains that it does not recognize fourcc gif :

VLC media player 0.8.2 Janus
[00000249] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `gif '.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

I tried mplayer and xine as well. It looks like the stream starts with some gif image and the fourcc is set to a wrong value.

Note that the website claims that vlc is supposed to work but I presume that they talk about the windoze port. I don't have windoze so I cannot say.

The stream can be found at http://www.streamtv.dk
You have to register (for free) for a test period. If someone can try it and enlighten me, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Thorgal
