Video conversion profiles missing

Postby Stephen Angelico » 10 Mar 2014 11:29

I have a laptop and a much more powerful desktop, both with Debian Wheezy. Also on both, I installed VLC 2.1.2 from wheezy-backports. I want to convert some videos to a format that I can play on my HTC Wildfire S. I have seen conflicting information on what encoding the phone can handle (like H.263 vs H.264).
On my laptop, I found conversion profiles like Video for Android (SD and HD), among other things. I don't have any such option on my desktop. I checked that the installed packages with vlc in the name are the same, but I haven't dug any further yet, as I don't know where to dig. Is there a package I can install or a setting I can change that will allow me to use these profiles?

That's my problem. Can I transfer them manually somehow?
