opening capture card errors, but can make it work eventually

I have only been able to open my pci capture card by typing in

vlc /dev/video0

Which then gives me an error.

Close error screen, then click play and it plays from the capture card.

I get several errors

Picture of it when it works using the first method which you clear the error message then click play button.

I read that I should use pvr instead of vfl in the open and that does work without the error.
