cannot find HAL component???

cannot start movie. it says cannot find HAL component.
any help?

Did you compile VLC on your own?

If not, can you provide the complete messages-log and tells us what kind of file you tried to play, which version of VLC and OSX and QuickTime you are using, etc.pp.

VLC always complain about HAL when it is not present, but I suspect that's not the reason why you can't play the movie.

try to run with increased verbosity (-v command line option).

I also find this problem,
not only hal, but also several libraries, including:

libhal.so.0
libdbus
libsysfs
libtheora
libstdc++.so.6

How to solve?
