2.1.0 and ProRes 444

Postby craaig » 16 Oct 2013 22:49

I seem to be getting:
[prores @ 0x7f353cfc9a00] alpha channel not implemented. Update your Libav version to the newest one from Git. If the problem still occurs, it means that your file has a feature which has not been implemented.
for certain ProRes files.

I've updated avconv/avlib, which created a bunch of new errors (i don't remember the exact error, but it was something to do with 64bit and libavformat.so 'not valid symbol') so i've uninstalled avconv which has got me back to where I was.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if it will work with a correctly built new libav version, but it definitely will not work with the old version you have.

So does that mean that prores support in VLC is broken? As far as i'm aware, these files were encoded in 422 HQ instead of 422, and 422 has artifacts in playback which aren't apparent in the mac counterpart VLC player. Neither linux or Mac will play the 422 HQ.

I've tried various libav compiles, and all have failed with this alpha layer. a simple apt-get update did a few things, but still won't play the HQ, and artifacts in the 422.
