How to compile VLC with AAC support?

Postby fdiskk » 14 Feb 2013 23:59

I trying to compile VLC but I fail to have it working with AAC audio, when I play a FLV with MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) or a MP4 with H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) I only hear loud static noise.

Thanks

I think you need to enable faad in the build to decode AAC audio.

Also, go to Pref -> (show all) -> Audio/Codex -> Scroll down to "Preferred decoders list" and make sure "quicktime" isn't listed. If so...get rid of it. That's one of the biggest problems with VLC and AAC (or MP4a audio streams in video files).
