vlc log linux

Postby COKEDUDE » 04 Jun 2012 10:12

I was reading these 2 links about vlc log files.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1331884
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4303 ... t-vlc-logs

Is there a reason why this doesn't work?
VLC -> Tools -> Preferences -> Select "ALL" -> Advanced -> Logging

I created the log file location and file. I also changed the verbosity to 2. I don't understand what the problem is.

The command line method works but I would prefer the gui method.

Code: Select all

vlc --file-logging VLCLOG --verbose=2

You need to restart the player for prefs to take effect.

I had also trouble to get the log working.
I tried to point it to /var/log/vlc_log.txt - however it did not work - I assume it was the authorization of the user.
I tried /home/USERNAME/vlc_log.txt , that worked right away.
