Intel Graphics HD 3000, VLC & hardware acceleration issue.

Hello every one. I have a laptop with a SandyBridge architecture Core i3-2350M + HD 3000 (shared memory).

When I enable hardware acceleration for video playback I have 85~100% cpu usage on Core-0 and a frame rate of about 0.3~3 frames/s (depends form the video resolution).

I tried to increase File Caching.
I tried latest versions (git) of vlc, libva, libva-driver-intel.
I tried hardware acceleration with mplayer and it works.

Any ideas?

Vlc, Tools > Preferences > Inputs & Codes > Use GPU accelerated decoding.

Don't use hardware acceleration. Your card does not support the VLC rendering model.

Just for extra infos. It will suopported it the feature, or it will never be supported? Is it an Intel "thing"? Should I fill a feature request?

I doubt Intel will care to update the drivers, and it might well be a hardware limitation anyway.

As for VLC, it would require a lot of work, so with a volunteer team, I cannot say.

Well im sure its not a video card problem since u have vaapi enable. It's just a problem in VLC. You should try mplayer with vaapi support.
My processor is an ivy bridge with hd 4000 graphic card and ofcourse vlc still not working properly since 1 of my processor stays around 50%+. With mplayer + vaapi i have no problem at all. So i guess the problem is with VLC itself.

VLC and Mplayer do not work the same way, so that just proves my point.

As I said, making VLC work like Mplayer would requires a lot of work. Since the VLC team is currently small and volunteer, I can only say it's not going to be implemented any time soon, if ever.
