Bases system ins an athlon tbird w/plenty of room running debian sarge, mplayer, transcode 0.6.14 (am trying 1.0.0 but having some install problems) mencoder, ffpmeg 0.4.9pre1 and development libraries.
I have a set of mp4 files from the go-open-source project at http://www.go-opensource.org. These files are unplayable by any software I have so far tried, apart from vlc. I can almost live with that except for one thing - I would like to transcode these files into something that a DVD player would like. I've tried a number of times to use transcode to do the conversion and no success. mplayer like I said - no dice. I get a ton of errors from the player.
when I try some of the conversion / transcoding tools inside vlc itself the best I can get is a segmentation fault. The files are not very big (110 k or so per episode) and I would like to perhaps get a few episodes onto a dvd.
has anyone tried doing this?
