Is some new version of libvlcplugin.so ? libvlcplugin crashing with firefox 4 under Ubuntu 11.04. Installed VLC 1.1.9

FF4 breaks compatibility with the VLC plugin. That is only one more reason why someone needs to step up to maintain the VLC plugin (that's not going to be me).

very funny ... why is not this plugin updated, if you have all ? This plugin had problems with firefox 3.x under linux min. 1/2 years - but not so fatal, as now with ff4.x

Doing this "mv+patch" worked for me, I got the vlc plugin (v1.1.9) to work with Firefox 4.0

I can confirm that the new version doesn't crash firefox, but it doesn't work either!!! Just a black screen. VLC works fine otherwise.

Also, fullscreen via doubleclick still doesn't function.

I tried using mozplugger instead, it works fine. I wonder if there's a way to implement controls using Javascript and Greasemonkey.

Nobody claimed that fullscreen was fixed, nor the crashes. A patch was proposed to fix the NPP_Initialize bug and it was applied. No other patches so no other fixes.

Now that fullscreen has been fixed for the Win32 plugin, any chance of the team resurrecting the libvlcplugin.so?

I noticed that there was an updated versionof mozilla-plugin-vlc, and it works for small videos:

...though with larger DivX or xVid, like half-hour TV shows, I'm just staring at a black window, and the fullscreen still doesn't work using FF 5 and KDE 4.

I guess the guy working on the web plugins recently is sponsored. And if so, I doubt the sponsor cares about Linux.

This is purely speculative. But the point is, if you want the Mozilla plugin to work on Linux, help yourself.
