vlc 1.1 fullscreen problem on X with no window manager

Postby silvije » 24 Jun 2010 23:11

Hi all,

Before I had a setup like this: just plain ubuntu server instalation with xserver-xorg and no window manager of any kind.
I was able to start X with /usr/bin/X & and than start vlc with export DISPLAY=:0 && /usr/bin/vlc --fulscreen file.avi
and I got video in fullscreen with all versions up to vlc 1.0.6

This does not work for me with vlc 1.1 anymore. I have read something about moving from Xlib to XCB but I cannot figure it out how to get video in fullscreen again. I have tried both cmd line switches: -f and --fullscreen but I got video in original resolution in top left corner...

Does anyone know what should I setup? maybe something in X if this is not vlc bug?

thanks

Unmanaged fullscreen is not currently implemented in the VLC/XCB window plugin. If you're using that, then it is a known limitation.

If you use the Qt4 UI, then it depends on Qt4.

ok, thanks,

I could not find that information...

however I have solved my problem with instaling openbox,
so after starting X and openbox, fullscreen in vlc works,
and openbox uses just 8MB disk space if I remembered corectly..
