VLC On Ubuntu 9.10 Problems

Postby Alistair » 08 Jan 2010 21:50

Every time I try and play a Dvd on vlc which is installed on ubuntu 9.10 the program plays about a second of it then shuts down.

How can I stop this happening?

Any help is much appreciated.

start vlc from terminal as such and look for the cause

Code: Select all

vlc -vvv
Most likely reasons
libdvdcss2 is not installed

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
audio and or video output issue - try a different output (tools ->preferences - in the output drop down

Make sure you have VLC 1.0.4. Ubuntu VLC 1.0.2 is awfully buggy.
