Whats the easiesy way to install VLC Player in Ubuntu?

Postby dealrocker » 12 Oct 2009 12:09

VLC is one of my most favorite open source media players. It is a highly portable multimedia player that supports many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs and various streaming protocols. I just switched into Ubuntu and VLC Player.
Please pass on the easiest way or step by step instructions to do this task.

VLC is available through one of the default Repositories in Ubuntu but it's an older version. Instead you could also follow the instructions on the main Videolan download page and add the recommend 'PPA' (online software library) to your computer's Repository list. The updated version of VLC will then be available through Synaptic.
