This is my first post so before posting any problems i want to say to the developers of VLC a big Thank You for this great software! Wish you all best!
Now to the point - same problem here. Tried with the latest drivers and VLC (and with earlier versions) with no success. The tuner is working properly with tvtime and mplayer.

Here is the info from v4l2-ctl... if someone might help:

And here it just hangs. When i click "Stop" it starts to loop "[00000687] main playlist debug: dying input" until i unplug the tuner from the usb. I try different combinations of video standart, set width&height etc. but nothing happens. Anyone solved this?

Hello,

Response from AVerMedia:
Thank you for choosing AVerMedia. According to our engineer, it seems that the program structure for VLC just won't allow our device to work under Linux. Therefore, we don't recommend you to use the VLC application. Nevertheless, we have done testing with mplayer, TV time, and other softwares that are mentioned in the TVPlayer text file that is included in the driver donwload.
Any ideas how to overcome this problem?

Right... v4l2 is generic API...

any news about this issue?

A827 based usb card, avermedia volar hybrid hx cannot be used inside vlc, but workd perfectly under mplayer and mencoder.

VLC might be interesting due to its streaming capabilities...
