Is rtmp support not quite functional yet?

I just built vlc 0.9.9 under Ubuntu 8.0.4.

Also, I was told that I needed to have libmodplug-dev installed, which I confirmed I do have installed.

The URL should be rtmp:// something. And that's got nothing to do with libmodplug (tracker files).

Sorry, I cut and paste the wrong attempt. I had attempted both http and rtmp. As you can see below there's the error

Ok, I'm including the plugin-path now and at least it states that 254 modules were found. but still rtmp is not found as an access module. In my vlc build I do see a rtmp directory inside the modules directory

Also, what is the meaning of this error:

why would I get a permission denied? I tried manually telnetting to 1935, although I don't get an answer I don't get any permission denied errors. I did configure the firewall to allow that port and it's not complaining.
