Thanks for reading.
I work at a TV station and we have several cameras located around the city that are linked back to the station via microwave. The server here at the station ( for lack of a better word ) spits out composite video of each camera so that we can pipe it into our switcher for broadcast onto air. I have been asked to investigate what it would take to capture that composite signal and make still shots and maybe time lapse .gif files for uploading to our website.
I am fairly good at Linux but new to video capture on Linux.
I had planned on purchasing at Hauppauge Impact VCB card and installing Ubuntu Hardy on an extra PC i have here at the office.
I was wondering what the VideoLan project might have to offer for a project like this.
Again, thanks for reading.
