VLC interface font size

Postby suseuser04 » 19 Nov 2008 16:49

Hello:

I am new on this list. I tried to search the forum before asking this but the search system gave me error message when tried to search with "+font + size" expression.

I am using openSUSE 10.3 with kde 3.5.9 "release 51.2". I have installed vlc-0.9.6 opensuse packages from the videolan site successfully (vlc-0.9.6-2.6).
VLC starts and works but the interface fonts are too small. How could I make them larger? I tried qtconfig but changing font size in it had no effect.

Thanks,
suseuser04

I'm having a similar problem but it's that the fonts are too large rather than too small. It's only happened since I upgraded to 0.9.x, using the Qt4 interface. I've seen problems like this with a few apps that have their own font size settings and default to 10 point. The issue is that since I have my DPI set correctly instead of whatever the default is, 8 point is really what I want (10 point looks too large). I'm guessing that 10 point looks right for people using default DPI.

So I set KDE3 font size to 8, GTK+ font size to 8, Qt4 font size to 8 (with qtconfig as mentioned before) and Firefox font size to 8 (in userChrome.css) and that covers just about everything. But VLC's interface must be using something else?

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with XFCE and QT4.
After playing with qt-config without any success I found a way to work around the problem by simply installing vlc-plugin-skins2 and adding a custom skin.

BTW; I had the same issue with GIMP, but GIMP let you to adjust easily your font size via the your preference (https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/79118/gimp-how-do-i-change-ui-dpi)

I might worth to implement a similar option in VLC

As VLC uses QT for the GUI configuration modify the interface with the QT5 Configuration Tool "qt5ct" which stores the config in "~/.config/qt5ct/"
